Step by Step
1
Prepare the Matcha Shot
Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl or a matcha bowl to remove any clumps. Add the hot water, ensuring it is not boiling to prevent bitterness. Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chasen) in a W or M motion until a smooth, bright green liquid with a fine foam on top is formed. This is your matcha shot.

2
Heat the Oat Milk
Pour the oat milk into a small saucepan and heat it gently over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling. Alternatively, you can use a microwave. If you prefer an iced latte, skip heating and use cold oat milk.

3
Froth the Oat Milk (Optional)
For a creamy latte, froth the hot oat milk using a milk frother, an espresso machine steam wand, or by shaking it vigorously in a jar until it doubles in volume and becomes airy. For an iced latte, you can froth cold oat milk or simply pour it over ice.

4
Combine and Sweeten
Pour the whisked matcha shot into your serving mug or glass. If desired, add your preferred sweetener to the matcha and stir until dissolved. This allows the sweetener to blend thoroughly before adding the milk.

5
Assemble the Latte
Slowly pour the frothed (or plain) oat milk over the matcha shot. If you frothed the milk, use a spoon to hold back the foam initially, then dollop it on top for a beautiful layered effect. For an iced latte, fill your glass with ice before pouring in the matcha and then the cold oat milk.

Serve and Enjoy
Stir gently to combine the layers, or simply enjoy the visual appeal before taking your first sip. Serve immediately and savor your homemade Matcha Oat Milk Latte. For an extra touch, you may dust with a tiny pinch of matcha powder on top.
