Step by Step
1
Cook the Bacon
Place bacon slices in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until desired crispness is reached, turning occasionally. This usually takes about 8-12 minutes depending on thickness. Remove bacon from skillet and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.

Prepare Vegetables
While the bacon cooks, wash the lettuce leaves thoroughly and pat them dry. Slice the ripe tomatoes into even 1/4-inch thick rounds. Have these ready for assembly.

Toast the Bread
Toast the bread slices to a golden brown in a toaster, under a broiler, or in the same skillet used for bacon (after removing bacon and some grease, if preferred). Ensure the bread is evenly toasted for optimal texture.

Spread the Mayonnaise
Once the bread is toasted, spread a generous layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice. This adds moisture and a rich, tangy flavor that is essential to a classic BLT.

Assemble the Sandwich
Lay four slices of toasted, mayo-spread bread on a clean surface. On each slice, layer two lettuce leaves, followed by 2-3 slices of tomato. Lightly season the tomatoes with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Finally, top with 3 slices of crispy bacon.

Finish and Serve
Place the remaining four slices of mayo-spread bread on top of the assembled ingredients. Gently press down on each sandwich. For easier eating, you can cut each sandwich in half, either diagonally or straight. Serve immediately and enjoy your classic BLT!
